TOURING EXHIBIT

Although they were aware of their empathy, the rescuers weren't impressed by it. "It's the normal thing to do,"Arie van Mansum asserted. Dutch rescuer Semmy Riekerk said, "I'm not all good. I had the opportunity and I happened to have made the right choice. A human being is like a piano. Circumstances play the keys. The war brought out the highest and lowest in people. I was just lucky that during the war I was able to play my high notes."

The book is organized geographically because of the uniqueness of each country's experience under Nazi rule.
